Since IE 9 using Direct2D allows subpixel rendering for both horizontal and
vertical coordinates, we are now again hit with a small problem: default
fonts don't seem properly hinted for horizontal grid alignment.
For example, a capital 'E' written with Times New Roman, when zoomed in,
will have a straight, clean bottom edge, a straight, clean vertical bar (both
edges)... And a fuzzy top edge.
The contrast, on a single glyph, makes the lack of hinting very glaring and
very disturbing.
