Microsoft should release the final version of IE8 with the option of the
classic skin look of IE6 during the install process.
I, and many others refuse to “upgrade” to IE7 or IE8 because the familiar
and comfortable feel of the classic IE6 was lost.
This is my suggestion.

You can turn off tabs and let IE display the outdated menu bar.

Wow. I so enjoy the new toolbars etc. They are miles ahead of IE6 and the
competition.

And it gets so much better with IE8 from IE7. I use a simple 2-button with
scroll mouse usually. If you click on a link by pressing down on the
scroller [instead of spinning it] it acts like a middle button and will open
the link in a new tab. I can click like crazy on one page and then visit the
tabs at my leisure. Check into the tab settings and get them working as you
want.

IMHO in no way should IE go back to IE4 layout.

Very good idea!

Actually, I'm still on IE6 for this very reason. And unless Microsoft
include a choice for IE6 classic look, I will NOT upgrade to IE8, IE9 or any
new IE. Then I either stick with IE6, and if that's not possible due to
limiations, I'll use Firefox which CAN be skinned like IE6.

That's it! :)
