As part of troubleshooting problems with my computer I installed IE8.
Unfortunately it caused havoc with several sofware packages I have installed
eg palm, roxio , lexmark; most importantly for the most part my translation
software is not compatible. A Microsoft technician very kindly walked me
though the uninstallation of IE8 - I expected to be reverted back to IE7 but
it reverted back to IE6 so i downloaded IE7 from the Microsoft website. The
only problem I have noticed so far is the 'Links' toolbar does not function.
I have selected it and it is visible in the menu bar but does not function.
Any advice would be gratefully received as I use this function a lot.
Thank you

Hi,
Windows XP?

Is the Favorites folder in the default location? It should be at Local Disk
(C)\Documents and Settings\your account name\Favorites.

Is the Links folder located in the Favorites folder?

Try these 2 procedures:
1. (Not likely to help, but a very easy test to run.)
Start Internet Explorer without add-ons by right-clicking the IE icon on the
desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
from Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no
add-ons)
If the problem goes away, a browser add-on is causing it.

For troubleshooting information see:
IEBlog Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer’s (No Add-ons) Mode:
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/07/25/678113.aspx

2. Go to http://iefaq.info/index.php?action=artikel&cat=35&id=133&artlang=en
Read the information on that page- especially the "Usage" paragraph (Usage:
unzip the download and run the cmd...)
Download (near the bottom of the page) and run the appropriate script for
your browser and OS. in your case: ie8-rereg.zip: for IE7/8 on 32bit-Windows

Hope this helps,
Don
