I have a few days ago the beta release of IE 8.0 also downloaded and
installed.
On the whole, I am very satisfied with the program, I have the feeling that
he had run faster than IE 7.0.
However, I still miss a few points in this program:

- It is not possible to open the tab with a single mouse click (mouse button
programmed as close) to close and return to the previous tab. However, this
was
IE 7.0 when possible

- In addition, it would be very helpful if in IE 8.0 a download manager (see
Firefox, Downloadhelper), which would be incorporated automatically recognize
the files
can be downloaded.

I am sure that even more users would be grateful if these extensions in the
final version of IE 8.0 will influence and thank you for your efforts

I don't think it is realistic that Microsoft will incorporate a feature like
the downloadhelper for Firefox. But you can install an addon like
http://ie-downloadhelper.com to get the same features.

Offcause I was also surprised when Microsoft introduced adblocking in IE8
with the Inprivate Filtering, so you newer know....

Hi Peter,

There are about 10 'download' managers available for both IE and FX and
other browsers.

Some of these don't use the built-in DownloadUI hook of IE and can be
downright dangerous to install (especially the 'free' versions... BitTorrent
etc) on your machine.

Don't get confused between IE's built-in Download Manager (UI) which
controls downloads from the Internet to the client and the FX Download's
Manager which is essentially a Firefox extensions download and
installer/uninstaller. FX need their own custom downloads manager because
they do not add entries for their extensions to the Windows Installed
Programs list (accessible from the Add/Remove Programs applet) like all well
behaved windows program installers should. (required for 'Built for Windows'
certification).

Someone may have an integrated IE Addons downloader come manager come
uninstaller soon so you will be able to Uninstall any unwanted Addons from
the Addons Manager in IE instead of having to go and find it in the
Installed Programs list. The biggest issue for this to work though is that
some Addons come Malware have been crafted to make them difficult, if not
impossible to uninstall.

I have FX installed with about 30 of their extensions. It can take minutes
to load up after it has finished calling home to check for updates to its
installed Extensions. FX has no 'Built for Windows' certification. No FX
extension is scanned for malware before it is installed. That is why they
are centralized at the one download location at addons.mozilla.org and why
MS has created the ieaddons.com web sites to at least have some control over
what people are enhancing IE with. You will receive a warning from FX when
you try to install an uncertified extension. That won't stop a user
accidentally installing a FX extension crafted for mal intent.

Eric Lawerence (IE PM) has written about designing well behaved IE Addons
and how to keep them updated at his blog.

Regards.
