Colleagues, have any of you had problems in scrolling in IE 8 Beta 2. In IE
7 scrolling was always smooth. Now it is jerky. Any suggestions would be
helpful.

I am running Windows XP Pro Version 2002, Service Pack 3. On a Dell laptop
with Intel Pentium M processor 1.60 GHz, with 2 GB of Ram.

Autoscroll?

Autoscroll in IE has always been jerky, compared with Autoscroll in Office products.

BTW either IE8b2 or the latest Live Beta install has affected Middleclick
behaviour in Plain Text mode in both OE and WLMail too.
In WLMail the symptom is particularly bizarre and confusing because
in order to control scrolling and acceleration I have to drag my mouse pointer
backwards. Getting started isn't too bad, e.g. even if I drag down nothing
happens so I can then drag up to get it started. Getting it stopped or slowed
down is mindbending... ; } Another thing that is odd about this I think is that
I'm not sure whether MIddleclick ever did anything in either product before
when they were in Plain Text mode. AutoScroll still works the same as
always in Rich Text (HTML) mode in both--with IE's jerky scrolling.
In contrast the scrolling I'm seeing in Plain Text mode is more like WordViewer's
smooth but slower scrolling.

In this case your mouse software and especially whether you can do Middleclick
could be significant. FWIW I have a Kensington Expert Mouse with one of my
button combinations defined to do Middleclick.

Hi,
Are you using a mouse or a touchpad?

1. In Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing, try "Use smooth scrolling" both
checked and unchecked. See if either setting eliminates the problem.

2. Clear the Temporary Internet Files.

3. If using a mouse, check the manufacturer's website for updated software
(drivers.)

4. Start Internet Explorer without add-ons from:
Right-click the IE icon on the desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)
If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.
